Hello and welcome to Season 2010.

Women’s Football (Senior and Junior) has been discussed in a series of club meetings since the close of the 2009 season. A number of initiatives will be developed and rolled out in the coming months with the focus on bringing more closely together all aspects of Avoca FC Women’s football.

To start –

Senior Women will be coordinated via a single Coaching Group in 2010. The Yummy Sharks will coordinated as per previous years, the Women’s All Age will be coordinated as one group / squad. Teams will be determined post registration but the Squad will be maintained through the season.

Initial Muster and Preseason training session will be held on Sunday 10th January. Please note the change in venue from previous years – This session will be held at Avoca – Meet at Surf Club Carpark at 5:30 pm (sharp)

Recruitment for 2010 squad requires active focus and effort. 2009 Season proved difficult with numbers and all hands need to be on deck to ensure a positive experience for all in 2010. In particular the club is looking to secure the return of previous players (ex-sharkies) and build the Avoca FC culture with some new faces.

It is understood that some players may not be able to participate in 2010, but will be willing (or encouraged) to make a contribution in any case.

Finally the club would like to thank the many people that have made such a strong contribution to Women’s Football with Avoca FC over recent years and look to their taking up roles in new “shape” of Women’s Football in 2010.

We also look forward to a strengthening and coming more closely together (Senior and Juniors) at our new home at the Erina High Sports precinct this year.

Girls,

we will be looking to integrate some of the pre-season training this year with the senior mens squads. Initially this will entail fitness and conditioning work. Further on, we hope to hold combined ball work and skills sessions.

Gary will be working hard to develop a program, however, the success of which will ultimately be determined by YOU- the Sharkette!

Please keep an eye on this forum- and spread the word. Pain is achievement when shared amongst friends.

All the best for 2010 to you too Mark. Nope I dont have a date or ground in mind just yet. Was hoping maybe you could think of something during Feb. We have 3 Womens All Age teams - can we put together something for all?

Ladies,

Well done in your first session back. I know a surprise beep test may not have been in anyones mind for the first session back but as the Womens soccer within Avoca is in the process of turning over a new leaf so will the training and principles behind everything you do this season and the seasons to come.

So from me, well done and keep up the good work....and I must say I am looking forward to you all joining us next Sunday for a combined Senior Mens/Ladies training session. As AB said the early sessions will be fitness based but the hard work needs to be done early to build a good aerobic base....from there everything else becomes so much easier.

You only have to look at what the Mens First and Reserve grade teams achieved in 2009 to see what a slightly new direction can do. The new structure and focus on the Womens football should see similar results, it does come down to the nucleus wanting to accept these changes and run with them. The mens team ran with these changes and we exceeded all expectations......this story can be the same for you.

Val - can you pencil in Sun 28th Feb for a trial game. We may not have finished our grading/selection before this.

At this stage probably 9 or 10AM (before it gets too hot). Likely venue is Chertsey Public School (which is really only a 3/4 size field but we can play 9-10 per side rather than 11).

If I can get access to Narara Valley High on this day we will play there on a full sized pitch but I'll let you know closer to the date.

Seems like a plan .. well done Mark.. hopefully the grading of our girls will be complete by this time. You might be able to use the occasion to help grade your girls...

We will field 3 teams.... Will chat with our Director of Football...on the event as we might mix up the players... look forward to seeing you. Just remember the Sharks are still your 'bogie' team... lol

we will also likely have at least 2 other AA5 sides , so a third game is not out of the question on this particular day. I'm just checking this out with our Director of Ladies football.

HI All,

Just a reminder for all about our first Avoca Senior football (integrated) session.

The session is this Sunday, 9am start sharp....and will run for roughly 90 mins. Please try to get there and be on time as we are starting at 9 on the dot to avoid the heat....

The session will be on regardless of weather and you can bring boots for the last part of the session but majority will be done in joggers.

See you all there!
